Aalto University, School of Arts, Department of design represented Finland at Milan Design Week April 4 - 9th 2017.

The Exhibition named Nakuna was produced to celebrate Finland’s 100-years of independence.

Nakuna (Fin. naked) took the audience onto a sensory journey, an itinary of self-discovery and laid bare the Finnish soul.

The exhibition revisited the Finninsh ancestral connection to the forest as a source of food, emotional sustenance and as a haven for peaceful reflection and contempletation.

Bridging art and design, with its three large-scale interactive installations LAAVU (Fin. wooden shelter); IKKUNA (Fin. window) and MANIFESTI; NAKUNA brought to the visitors the colours, tastes and textures of the Finnish landscape and uncovers the roots of the indomitable Finnish spirit.
